Defending champion Muhammad Munir was disqualified from the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Open Golf Championship.
KARACHI:
Defending champion Muhammad Munir was disqualified from the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Open Golf Championship for submitting an incorrect score-card on the opening day at the Karachi Golf Club. “Munir submitted the wrong score for hole 15,” said Lt Commander Irfan. “Though the move was unintentional but the committee had to take the decision according to tough golf rules,” added Irfan.
Meanwhile, Shabbir Iqbal displayed excellent skills to lead the first day of the Rs5.2 million championship. Pre-tournament favourite Iqbal ended the day with three-under par 69 ahead of Islamabad’s Chanzaib Javed and Shahid Javaid, who were joint-second at 71.
