Punjab government gives out Rs0.5m to families of dengue victims

After the deadly virus claimed 266 lives in the province, the Punjab government has started giving out financial assistance of Rs500,000 to the families of dengue victims, Express 24/7 reported on Sunday.

The chief minister had said that the government is implementing a comprehensive plan to combat the deadly virus.


He stressed that the doctors should put in extra hours in the government hospitals to help fight the disease.

As reported earlier, a delegation of Sri Lankan medical experts visited Lahore’s met officials and briefed them on dengue fever prevention measures.

Sri Lankan experts said that the government needed to utilise all resources at its disposal and work towards developing a coordinating mechanism among its various departments for its fight against dengue virus to be effective. They said the government needed cooperation of the private sector.
