Large Indian market awaits exporters
Most of the foreign buyers were seen visiting apparel and leather stalls on the second day of the Expo.
KARACHI:
Trade liberalisation between India and Pakistan is a positive move and Pakistani exporters will get a big market but they need to improve efficiency and product quality for the 1.2 billion market of India, said Tariq Rafi, Chief Executive of Siddiqsons Limited.
Speaking at the 6th Expo Pakistan at the Karachi Expo Centre on Friday, he said both India and Pakistan were big markets and especially Pakistan would get a huge market but all depended on “how exporters make the most of this opportunity”.
“Businessmen want cheap raw material and if India offers this who will not go there,” he said.
Rafi, who exports denim and finished denim products, claimed that his company had already got orders worth millions of rupees on the first two days of the four-day exhibition.
Most of the foreign buyers were seen visiting apparel and leather stalls on the second day of the Expo. Other stalls that received high attention of foreigners were of food and beverages.
