No Show: Rafique petition dismissed, again

Khan, a PML-Q candidate, who lost the election to Rafique in NA-125 Lahore,

LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday once again dismissed for non prosecution the petition of Humayun Akhtar Khan for the disqualification of PML-N MNA Khawaja Saad Rafique. The LHC on April 1 had also dismissed the same petition on the same grounds. Justice Umar Ata Bandial issued this order as no one appeared on behalf of the petitioner and respondent’s counsel requested the court to dismiss the petition. Khan, a PML-Q candidate, who lost the election to Rafique in NA-125 Lahore, in his petition, had alleged that Rafique had concealed his assets at the time of filing his nomination papers and also had not disclosed his source of earning. He said that Rafique later claimed that he got the money from winning prize bonds of Rs40.37 million during 2003 to 2007. He said the MNA did not mention details of the prizes before the Election Commission. Earlier, Rafique presented the details of prize bonds and other documents in the court.
