Dengue Fever: First death from Peshawar reported

The first death from dengue fever in Peshawar was reported at Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) on Wednesday. According to a statement issued by LRH Chief Executive Officer Dr Rahim Jan Afridi, the deceased, Humayun, was a resident of Gulab Khana who was admitted to LRH on October 17. A few days back, LRH had reported a death of a patient from dengue fever. However, it later issued a statement which said that the death had caused due to some other disease. LRH spokesperson said that so far 99 people have been admitted to hospital, out of whom 92 have been discharged after treatment, while six patients were still admitted at LRH. Meanwhile, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Health Minister Syed Zahir Ali Shah on Wednesday confirmed the death of seven patients from dengue in the province. He said the situation in K-P was under control.
