LHC refused to hear an application challenging the appointment of Admiral (r) Fasih Bokhari as chairman of NAB.
LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court chief justice refused to hear an application challenging the appointment of Admiral (r) Fasih Bokhari as chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB). Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhary observed during the course of hearing that appointment of NAB chairman could not be challenged through a civil miscellaneous petition. The appointment of the chairman NAB can only be challenged through an independent writ petition, he remarked. Barrister Iqbal Jafree had filed the application challenging the appointment in his already pending petition against several politicians. He had submitted that the federal government had not consulted the opposition, PML-N, and chief justice of Pakistan, which was in violation of the constitution.
