Cases have been registered against five butchers for selling sub standard meat in the district. According to police officials, five butchers were booked for selling watered and carrion meat in the district. Slaughter Houses superintendent Dr Muhammad Ghafran said that he had been receiving complaints regarding the quality of the meat in the area and had set up several teams to investigate. Cases have been registered under the Salator Control Act 3(2) (8) (A) (B)-3(3) (A) against Nadeem, Shehroze, Muhammad Naeem, Nadir Quraishi and Mussawar but no one has been arrested as yet. Local residents said that the authorities were using the raids as an eye wash to placate the people. “They are doing this to keep us quiet while they take kick backs from the butchers,”said Moeen Shahid.
