Quaid Trophy: Hussain’s nine-wicket haul destroys HBL

Karachi struggle against WAPDA on first day of Quaid Trophy matches.

Rawalpindi’s Sadaf Hussain was in brilliant form as he single-handedly demolished HBL with outstanding figures of nine for 37, as he helped bowl the visitors out for just 114 on the first day of their Quaid-i-Azam Trophy match. Hasan Raza was the only significant scorer with 29. In response HBL fought back well to reduce the hosts to 140 for seven. 

Karachi dismissed for 144

Meanwhile, Karachi Blues were shot out for just 144 against Wapda with Tanvir Ahmed’s valuable 44 saving the hosts from complete annihilation. Azhar Attari picked up four for 34. In reply Wapda were 75 for three.

ZTBL stage fightback

ZTBL staged a brilliant comeback after being bowled out for just 121 by Sialkot as they reduced the hosts to a disastrous 71 for seven. Mohammad Khalil (four for 38) and Sohail Tanivir (three for 14) were in brilliant form for ZTBL. Earlier, Mohammad Abbas’ five-wicket haul helped Sialkot bowl the visitors out for a paltry score.


Usman stars for  Abbottabad

Khalid Usman starred for Abbottabad, scoring a superb unbeaten 82 as the hosts were dismissed for 222 by NBP. Mohammad Talha picked up three wickets. NBP were 37 for one at close.

Meanwhile, Islamabad battled to 227 for seven at the end of the first day against SBP with Afaq Rahim scoring a fine 89. Saad Altaf picked up three wickets.

PIA were in a strong position against Faisalabad reaching an imposing 352 for six with Shoaib Khan starring with an unbeaten 116.
