Dealing With Dengue: Scottish MP reviews campaign against virus

Malik’s tour will focus on Multan, Khanewal and will review ongoing public awareness campaigns by Rescue 1122.

Member Scottish Parliament for Glasgow Hanzla Malik is currently visiting South Punjab to review a public awareness campaign organised by Rescue 1122.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, Malik’s tour will focus on Multan and Khanewal and the MP will review ongoing public awareness campaigns by Rescue 1122 and other organisations regarding the dengue virus. Hanzla Malik visited Jinnah Girls Higher Secondary School, Khanewal with a team of Rescue 1122 officials and Principal Matloob Ahmad. He delivered a lecture to 200 students regarding dengue prevention and precautionary steps. “This disease has wreaked havoc in Pakistan but I am encouraged to see such a staunch effort by health authorities and Rescue 1122 to curtail the virus and provide treatment to patients,” he said.  He also visited the Central Station of Rescue 1122 in Multan and participated in an ongoing awareness workshop regarding dengue prevention. The MP delivered lectures and appreciated the efforts of the Vocational Training Institute in Multan. “The public health sector needs to be given top priority with regards to funding and facilities. The Pakistan government is working to achieve this but more needs to be done and I will try to help in any way I can,” he said.
