Raising awareness: World Food Day to be observed today
Program to be arranged in an aim to raise awareness in issues of poverty and hunger.
ISLAMABAD:
World Food Day will be celebrated across the globe, including Pakistan, today in an aim to raise awareness in issues of poverty and hunger.
The theme for 2011 is “Food prices - from crisis to stability”. The day is celebrated every year on October 16 – the founding day of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations. A programme will be arranged on World Food Day by FAO in collaboration with the government of Pakistan at the National Agriculture Research Centre. Federal Secretary for Ministry of Science and Technology Akhlaq Ahmad Tarar will be the chief guest at the occasion.
