Deputy Speaker’s degree declared fake

QUETTA:
The University of Balochistan has declared fake the degrees submitted by the Balochistan Assembly’s deputy speaker and a member of the National Assembly from Fata.

According to university sources, Deputy Speaker Matiullah Agha had obtained a degree from a seminary in Multan, which was equivalent to a bachelor’s degree. This was the degree that he submitted when he had enrolled for a master’s degree in Islamic Studies at the university, which he successfully completed. However, when his papers were scrutinised, his bachelor’s degree was declared fake.

Agha belongs to the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and was elected as a member of the Balochistan Assembly from PB-8 Pishin. He is the fourth legislator from Balochistan whose degree has been declared forged and Balochistan stands to lose its representation in the federal cabinet as both its federal ministers Israrullah Zehri and Humayun Aziz Kurd are facing charges of holding bogus degrees. The degree of another MPA Rubina Irfan has also been declared fake.

Meanwhile, the degree of Jawad Hussain, member of the National Assembly from Fata, has also turned out to be forged. According to sources, his migration certificate is not authentic, which makes his bachelor’s degree invalid. He was elected as an independent MNA from NA-39 (Tribal Area-IV).
