Record raise: Tariff hike challenged in LHC

Ministry for Water and Power and NEPRA are named in the application as respondents.

LAHORE:
The recent increase of over Rs3 per unit in the electricity tariff has been challenged before the Lahore High Court.

Advocate Mateenul Haq Chaudhry filed a civil miscellaneous application to an already pending petition against increased power outages. In the application, he said the raise in tariff was the highest in the country’s history.

He asked the court to declare the price hike illegal. The Ministry for Water and Power and the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority are named in the application as respondents.
