Dengue Fever: Death toll reaches four as woman dies

Last year, 144 cases of dengue were reported from Haripur District, while five deaths were reported.

HARIPUR:
A woman from Kotnajibullah Union Council in Haripur died from dengue fever on Thursday. Gul Bibi, 32, was admitted to a local hospital, where she was diagnosed with dengue fever, family said. Later, she was shifted to a private hospital in Rawalpindi due to her deteriorating condition, where she died on Thursday night, bringing the death toll from dengue to four in Haripur. An official source confirmed that over 140 patients registered themselves with local health authorities in Haripur. Of these, 40 tested positive and 33 tested negative for the virus, while the result of the remaining patients have not yet been received from the National Institute of Health. Last year, 144 cases of dengue were reported from Haripur District, while five deaths were reported. However, the health authorities did not confirm the deaths of the patients.
