Football: Terry wants fans to back Bridge appeal

Chelsea captain John Terry has called for fans to back the club’s bid to repurchase the freehold of Stamford Bridge.

LONDON:
Chelsea captain John Terry has called for fans to back the club’s bid to repurchase the freehold of Stamford Bridge paving the way for the Blues to move to a new 60,000-seater stadium. “I’ve great memories of Stamford Bridge,” he said. “But what excites me is the thought of my kids being able to grow up watching the team play in a big stadium. It excites me because I know for sure that we can grow.” Several supporters’ groups have united to try to convince shareholders of Chelsea Pitch Owners, who have been in possession of the land beneath Stamford Bridge, to vote against the club’s proposal.
