Public perception: Chief justice, Sharif brothers most popular figures

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudary is the most popular personality in the country while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif tops the list of most popular politicians. Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan, on the other hand, has managed to increase his popularity.

According to a Gallup International survey regarding the popularity of political and administrative personalities, Prime Minister Gilani scored a negative 29 points, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Altaf Hussain earned a negative 41 points, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid’s (PML-Q) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain received a negative 40 points and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl’s (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman a negative 28 points.


Awami National Party’s (ANP) Asfand Yar Wali topped the list, earning a negative 48 points.

According to the survey, the chief justice scored 16 points, although he lost eight points compared to his score in the past. Meanwhile, Nawaz ranked first among the most popular politicians with 12 points but he lost four points compared to his score in the last survey. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif stands next to his brother with 10 points. The PTI chief earned five points, managing to rise one point higher compared to his score in the last survey.

Shahbaz also ranked as the most popular chief minister with 27 points, making him the only one in the positive list. The Balochistan chief minister gained a negative 30 points, while the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chief minister earned a negative 20 and the Sindh chief minister a negative 22. The survey results also concluded that the vote bank for various parties has largely changed, and as a whole.
