Punjab Assembly: Session convened to discuss dengue outbreak

PPP would move court against any attempt by the PML-N to dissolve the Punjab Assembly, says PPP leader Basra.

LAHORE:

Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan has convened the Punjab Assembly on the opposition’s requisition at 3pm on October 14 (Friday) to discuss the outbreak of dengue.

Opposition parties are likely to also raise Unification Bloc leader Dr Tahir Ali Javed’s suggestion to dissolve the assembly as a way out of the ‘political crisis’.

Peoples Party’s leader Shaukat Mehmood Basra said his party would demand a debate on Javed’s statement and would register their protest if their privilege motion in this regard is not included in the House business.

He said the statement was an attempt by the Sharifs to sabotage democracy. He said the PPP would move court against any attempt by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz to dissolve the Punjab Assembly.

The speaker is required to convene an assembly session within two weeks of submission of a requisition.
