Missing NoCs: US, French nationals stopped at Karachi Toll Plaza

Four cars allowed to proceed, one not carrying NoC sent back.

KARACHI:
Five vehicles carrying US and French nationals were stopped at the Karachi Toll Plaza for verification of No Objection Certificate (NoC), Express 24/7 reported Wednesday.

After clearance, four cars were allowed to proceed while one was asked to return as it did not have an NoC.

Police said the diplomats were on their way to interior Sindh when they were stopped for checking.

The consul general of France was also reported to be present in one of the cars.

After the Raymond Davis case, the Interior Ministry of Pakistan has made it compulsory for all diplomats to carry an NoC for intercity travels.

Earlier in July, four US nationals were stopped from entering Peshawar and sent back to Islamabad, while six other US diplomats were barred from entering the city on the grounds that they did not have No-Objection Certificates (NOCs).

The US nationals were stopped at the Peshawar Motorway Interchange and were asked to return to Islamabad even after they showed US diplomatic passports to the security officials.
