Disowned worker: Ex-employee and family stage hunger strike to get paid

UBAURO: An employee Fauji Fertiliser Company, Dur Muhammad, began a hunger strike with his wife and four children outside the gates of the factory from Tuesday.

According to Dur Muhammad, he was a driver in the company but was not paid for two months. When he contacted the management, they told him that his services were no longer required. “I am a poor man and depend on a meagre salary,” he said. “But now all of a sudden I have been sacked.” He said that he and his family were starving. The company’s public relations manager, Buxial Khan Gadaro, said that Dur Muhammad was employed by a contractor and not the company itself and was legally sacked.
