Golf: St Andrews to host 2015 Open
The Open has been staged at St Andrews every five years since 1990.
LONDON:
The 2015 British Open will be staged at St Andrews, officials confirmed yesterday.
Royal and Ancient Chief Executive Peter Dawson confirmed that the 144th edition of the championship would return to the spiritual home of golf from July 16-19.
“St Andrews has proved time and again that it is perfectly equipped to host The Open and I am certain we will yet again see a worthy winner lifting the Claret Jug,” said Dawson. The Open has been staged at St Andrews every five years since 1990, with South Africa’s Louis Oosthuizen winning the 2010 edition of the prestigious tournament. Royal Lytham in northwest England will host the championship in 2012.
