Stability or bankruptcy?
LONDON:
This is with reference to Meekal Ahmed’s article “Stability or bankruptcy?” (July 8). We seem to have caged ourselves in a corner. We count on our strategic location, nuclear power status and all round nuisance value to insure that IMF loans are provided and extended even if we break conditions. Our taxation system has failed to develop, as every patriot claims that he is willing to die for the country but doesn’t bother paying taxes. The actual state of affairs, in our perverted reality, incentivises more violence. As long as the country bleeds, the powers that be can always project their failures onto domestic terrorist threats or foreign conspiracies.
