Decree: Peoples Amn Committee outlawed

KARACHI: The interior ministry has banned the Peoples Amn Committee, declaring it an outlawed organisation, according to a notification issued late on Monday night. The ban comes into effect immediately. According to additional chief secretary home, Waseem Ahmed, the interior ministry has outlawed the group under section 11-B of the Anti-terrorism Act 1997 on the recommendation of Sindh home department. Banning any organisation falls within the purview of the federal government, while a province can only recommend such a measure, he said. It may be mentioned that former provincial home minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza on Sunday announced to lift the ban imposed on PAC during his press conference in Lyari upon his arrival from abroad.
