ISLAMABAD:

An exhibition of unique art work by Amin Rehman was inaugurated at Rohtas Gallery on Monday. Canadian High Commissioner Ross Hynes opened the multidisciplinary exhibition, “White Was: Art in the Age of Neo-Colonialism”, featuring 24 art works

The artist has used encaustic, acrylic, digital and neon text synthesising with language and textual expressions to rethink his cultural past and present.

The artist currently resides in Toronto. He uses Perso-Arabic scripts, intertwining Islamic calligraphy with English to bring a connotation of despotic identity.

“White Wash” is a series of paintings based on current and past print media and relies on historic interest in the power of language to alter personal ideologies. At the same time, the artist highlights “the complexities of a global ideology in the context of aggressive world capitalism.”

The show continues until October 21.
