Germany in third
Germany secured third position by beating Uruguay 3-2 in a rousing and rain-soaked World Cup third place match.
Sami Khedira's goal at the 82 minute mark earned Germany the victory over Uruguay and third place for the second straight World Cup.
Khedira rose to nod the ball beyond Fernando Muslera after Uruguay failed to clear a late corner. The goal ended Uruguay's hopes of beating Germany for the first time in 82 years.
Uruguay had come from behind to lead 2-1 when Diego Forlan volleyed in a cross for his fifth goal of the tournament.
Germany defender Marcell Jansen leveled five minutes later with a header. Thomas Mueller gave Germany the lead in the eighteenth minute, but Edinson Cavani equalized for Uruguay in the twenty eighth.
