Mindless media-ocrity (II)
LAHORE:
This is with reference to Mahreen Aziz Khan’s article “Mindless media-ocrity” (July 9). I disagree with her views. Today, talk shows have more enlightened debates than parliament. Live coverage regularly, and with admirable speed, bring terse ground realities into the immunized drawing rooms. Moreover, the electronic media played a pivotal role in the lawyers’ mostly peaceful long march which led to the toppling of a despised, vain, and corrupt usurper. It must also be noted that Pakistan’s electronic media is maturing at a remarkable rate due to competition and relative deregulation.
