Hockey: HI adopts aggressive stance
HI warned players and officials participating in WSH of ‘serious implications’.
NEW DELHI:
Hockey India (HI) upped the ante against Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) by announcing a new hockey league while claiming that the IHF’s World Series Hockey (WSH) event is not sanctioned by the International Hockey Federation (FIH).
The development comes at a time when efforts are underway to clear the mess in administration of the game within India. The warring parties are currently in talks with Indian Olympic Association to work out a solution. In a statement, HI said its event will be under aegis of FIH and also warned players and officials participating in WSH of ‘serious implications’.
