SBP record huge win over Karachi Blues

ZTBL defeat Faisalabad by an innings in Quaid Trophy.



Karachi Blues crashed to a big defeat against SBP on the third day of their Quaid-i-Azam Trophy match, losing by an innings and 11 runs, as the spin duo of Kashif Siddiq and Hasan Mahmood helped bowl out the hosts for a paltry 113.


Trailing by 124 runs, Karachi Blues were off to a good start in their second innings but superb bowling by Siddiq (five for 14) and Mahmood (four for 35), ensured that none of the other Karachi batsmen could survive for long.

ZTBL beat Faisalabad

ZTBL recorded a crushing win against Faisalabad, winning by an innings and 124 runs helped by Mohammad Khalil’s five-wicket haul that helped dismiss the hosts for just 140. Earlier, ZTBL declared their first innings on 463 for nine, with Sharjeel Khan and Yasir Hameed scoring big hundreds.


HBL stage fightback

HBL staged a fine comeback against Sialkot after conceding a 104-run lead in their first innings. Sialkot were reduced to 61 for seven in their second innings, with spinners Abdur Rehman and Danish Kaneria picking up three wickets each. Earlier, HBL were all out for 293 with Imran Farhat hitting a century.

Abbotabad were in deep trouble against Wapda, being reduced to 70 for five after conceding a lead of 66 runs in the first innings. Earlier, Wapda, who were reeling on 89 for four at the close on Friday, recovered well to post 325 in response to Abbotabad’s first-innings score of 259. Ali Azmat made a fine 105 and was well supported by Rafatullah Mohmand who made 70.

Amin helps NBP’s reply

NBP came back strongly against Rawalpindi ending the day at 296 for three but still trailed by 101 runs. Umar Amin was unbeaten on 131 for NBP. Earlier, Rawalpindi were dismissed for 348 in response to 153 scored by the bankers.

PIA reduced Islamabad to 256 for five after declaring on 423 for five. Agha Sabir and Shoaib Khan hit centuries for PIA, while Afaq Rahim shone for Islamabad with a fine 120.
