Government cognisant of implementing SC's verdict on Karachi violence: President
A meeting was held to brief the President on the steps being taken to implement the SC judgement.
ISLAMABAD:
President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday expressed satisfaction that all concerned agencies of the government were cognisant of the need to implement the Supreme Court’s verdict on Karachi violence case and that some measures were already taken.
Spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar said a meeting was held in the Presidency to brief the President on the steps being taken to implement the Supreme Court’s judgement in a suo motu case on violence in Karachi.
He said that the meeting was specially convened by the President to apprise himself of the steps that had so far been taken for the implementation of the verdict.
The Sindh Chief Minister briefed the meeting on the steps taken by the provincial government for the implementation of verdict and the steps that would be further taken.
The meeting was attended by Governor of Sindh Ishratul Ebad Khan and Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq, former Law Minister Babar Awan, Law Minister Sindh Muhammad Ayaz Soomro, Home Minister Sindh Manzoor Hussain Wassan and Chief Secretary Sindh Raja Muhammad Abbas.
