Dengue outbreak: Death toll in Lahore reaches 176
Punjab has seen 196 deaths in total due to dengue.

At least six more people succumbed to the dengue virus in Lahore on Saturday, raising the death toll to 176 in the city, reported Express 24/7.
The death toll in the province of Punjab has reached 196.
A 24-year-old woman died in Ganga Ram Hospital, another seven-year-old girl died in Mayo Hospital, two women died in Services Hospital, while another person died in Jinnah hospital.
During the last 24 hours, 312 dengue cases have been reported in Punjab, out of which 258 cases are from Lahore.
The total number of dengue patients in Punjab has crossed 14,700, with around 12,700 from Lahore. However, according to the Punjab Health Department, the death toll in Punjab is at 186, of which 168 belong to Lahore.
Comprehensive strategy formulated to prevent dengue: CM
In order to prevent further spread of the dengue virus, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that a proper strategy has been formulated and it will soon be implemented.
The chief minister was chairing a meeting in Lahore to review measures taken against the virus.
Sharif said that a comprehensive strategy is being made, while doctors, nurses and technical staff are being sent abroad for training.
He also directed the local government’s secretary to ensure fumigation of graveyards by November 9.
The CM further stated that the campaign for a clean environment should be initiated, and added that a memorandum of understanding will be signed with Indonesia to combat the epidemic.
