Sialkot lynching: Family seeks death sentence

Family says convicts given life imprisonment by court were main culprits in incident, should be sentenced to death.

LAHORE:
The family of the two brothers lynched by a mob in Sialkot filed an appeal in the Lahore High Court challenging the acquittal of five suspects and seeking conversion of life sentences for six into death sentences.

In a petition submitted on Friday, Sajjad Ahmed, father of Muneeb and Mughees, pleaded that the six imprisoned for life were the main culprits in the case and that directions should be issued converting their life sentences into death sentences.

Ahmed said the prosecution had produced concrete evidence against those acquitted by the anti-terrorism court. He prayed the court to cancel the acquittal orders.
