ISLAMABAD:
Speakers at an IIUI seminar stressed for the need to create awareness about leukaemia, its diagnosis and treatment. BindingSite USA’s Technical Director Dr Sairah Alvi said that among all known cancers, leukaemia is the most dreadful. She explained that the cancer has a range of variations that begin when bone marrow stem cells start to produce abnormal white blood cells in the body. Its symptoms usually develop abruptly and intensely. They include fatigue, paleness, recurrent minor infections, fever without known cause, bone pain, abdominal swelling, bruising from slight injury, poor healing of minor cuts, uncontrolled bleeding, among others. The patient often loses weight.
