ISLAMABAD:

The offices of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), situated at Q-Block, have been closed for security reasons and the staff has been asked to work from their homes for a week, a finance ministry official said.

An IMF official requesting anonymity confirmed that the offices had been closed on security advice from the headquarters in Washington which asked the staff not to go to their workplace in Pak Secretariat and also avoid travel.

He said that the offices would remain closed by the time clearance was received from the IMF office in Washington.

The official said the staff was working from their homes and contacts were being made through email and telephones.

He said the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank had their own offices and security arrangements and the government was also providing security to them, hence they were functioning without any interruption.
