Bridge team eyes quarter-final spot
Players to take part in World Team Champions Bermuda Bowl.
KARACHI:
The Pakistan bridge team has set its sights on a quarter-final spot at the World Team Champions Bermuda Bowl that begins on October 16 in Netherlands.
The non-playing captain and manager of the team Tariq Rashid said that the aim was to go through to the last-eight of the tournament, which features the best players from all over the world. He added that the team was upbeat ahead of the event and has completed an eight-day training period.
“This is the first time that the bridge team got any professional training before a world championship,” Rashid told The Express Tribune. “We’re confident that it will help us reach the quarter-finals. Defeating India at the regional championship was a boost.”
The team includes Rashidul Ghazi, Tehsin Gheewala, Tahir Masood, Javed Miran, Syed Hasan Jawad while Khalid Mohiuddin and Mubashir Puri are the reserve players. The team departs on October 14.
