Zardari chairs meeting to curb power crisis

President Zardari issues directives to ensure power generation units are operational and working optimally.

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari chaired a meeting at the presidency on Wednesday to discuss the power crisis faced by the country, Express 24/7 reported Wednesday.

Zardari issued directives in the meeting to ensure that all power generation units were operational and working optimally to their capacity.

The meeting was convened following protests in several cities against prolonged load shedding.

Causes that led to increased power outages were also discussed in the meeting, along with chalking out solutions for it.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and other officials.

Earlier, Federal Minister for Water and Power Naveed Qamar had said that the power crisis had been resolved.

He also said that the government would be rolling out a new set of reforms for the energy sector over the next month in two stages.
