Residents of Thul chased six men, including two policemen, and freed the two hostages on Tuesday afternoon.
Six armed men, clad in police uniforms, broke into the house of Haji Nasrullah Soomro in Jamia Masjid Mohalla and abducted his two sons, Mansoor and Tariq. They blindfolded both of them and fled in two cars.
Dozens of villagers set out on motorcycles to chase the kidnappers. They managed to stop them near Odi police check post. They released Mansoor and Tariq and beat up the men and handed them over to the Thul police.
According to Thul DSP Ghulam Murtaza Mirani, the kidnappers included two policemen from Sukkur, ASI Rafiq Soomro and head constable Sultan Ahmed Shaikh. Four men, Faiz Mohammad Junejo, Fawad Ahmed, Ramzan and Aijaz were wearing fake uniforms.
