Missing persons: SHC puts secretaries on notice

The federal interior secretary and Sindh home secretary were asked on Monday.

KARACHI:
The federal interior secretary and Sindh home secretary were asked on Monday by a division bench of the High Court of Sindh to submit a report about two out of four missing persons whose bodies were found in Peshawar and how and in what circumstances were they killed. All four victims were in a yellow cab when men from the law enforcement agencies whisked them away in February 2009 from outside the shrine of Abdullah Shah Ghazi in Karachi. Earlier on, Maqbool-ur Rahman advocate, counsel for the petitioner Sher Baz, Muhammad Abdullah and Muhammad Kamal, close relatives of the missing Abdul Hameed, Iqbal, Zainuddin and Sunnat Gul, submitted that Hameed and Iqbal’s bodies were found dumped in the limits of Peshawar city. The two other men are still missing. He apprehended a threat to their lives. The bench took notice of the killing, put the federal interior secretary and Sindh home secretary on notice for October 24 and asked them to investigate and prepare a detailed report.
