
Over two dozens protest demonstrations were witnessed in and around Faisalabad against power cuts in the district on Sunday and Monday. Meanwhile, in Gujranwala, six people were injured as protesters stormed the Gujranwala electric power company (Gepco) offices and set them on fire. Two of the injured include police officials.
In Gujrat traders have announced a complete shutter down strike in protest against load shedding in the district. In Gujranwala, protesters also set two police posts and one police post on fire injuring 30 people including 14 police officials. The protesters also stopped a train heading from Rawalpindi to Karachi and broke windows.
Protesters in several districts blocked the roads and burned tyres, in other areas the rallies turned violent and people began pelting stones and bricks at passersby and government offices.
Various reports suggest that for the past 48 hours, locals have witnessed over 20 hours of power cuts in Faisalabad and Gujranwala and people have come out on the streets in dozens of localities.
