Sectarian Violence: Upgrade security forces, says Senator

There is a strong need to upgrade and equip our security forces to effectively deal with disturbances in Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B).
This was stated by Senate Standing Committee on Interior Chairman Talha Mahmood during a press conference at Gilgit Press Club on Monday.
Senator Mahmood is currently on a two-day official visit to G-B to monitor the law and order situation in the region that has witnessed sectarian violence for the past three decades.
The senator said the issue of Attabad Lake was a minor issue, as the lake could have been drained out in its initial days of formation.
However, due to lack of attention and flawed policies of the government, it had become a huge problem for the people.

He said he had recently visited China on an official visit, where he held meeting on several important matters, including the exchange of students and prisoners between the two countries.
