Cricket: Veterans make winning start

Pakistan Panthers Veterans (PPV) began their tour of Sri Lanka on a winning note.

KARACHI:
Pakistan Panthers Veterans (PPV) began their tour of Sri Lanka on a winning note as they overpowered Western Province Veterans XI by three wickets in their opening game at the Sinhalese Sports Club. Absar Hussain Syed and Jaffar Qureshi bowled well, capturing seven wickets between them, to send Western Province tumbling to 190 all out. With 35 overs to reach the target, PPV romped home in the 29th over after Najeeb Sadiq starred with the bat. PPV, captained by Fawad Ijaz Khan, will play three more matches on the tour.
