Sticks and stones: Burying the hatchet? No, these women use it to hit the SHO
The police had started out with a door-to-door search and had misbehaved with some women.
SUKKUR:
On their way to arrest Raees Mithal Chachar, three policemen, including the SHO, were beaten up by women in the village.
SHO Sibghatullah Jatoi of the Ubauro police station and his men were carrying out a raid in the Raees Mithal Chachar village, looking for Chachar, a tribal elder, who was wanted for murder.
Sources claim that the authorities had started out with a door-to-door search and had misbehaved with some women.
Later on these women attacked the policemen with wooden sticks. The attack was so intense that SHO Jatoi, ASI Qazi Sajjad and police constable Mithal Mirani had no option but to run.
Assistant Head Constable Ali Gul told The Express Tribune that the police had gone to the village to arrest Chachar for his alleged involvement in a murder case. He added that the men were attacked with axes as well. ASI Sajjad and constable Mirani were taken to a hospital nearby while SHO Jatoi was taken to Rahim Yar Khan Hospital.
When contacted, SHO Jatoi told The Express Tribune that they had arrested four men and he had needed 17 stitches to the scalp. “After we had arrested the men, the women just attacked us with thick wooden sticks and hatchets,” he said. “I got hit on the head but the other two are doing well now.”
