SAP targets utilities to expand business
‘Companies start to use SAP software to minimise losses’.
LAHORE:
Software Applications and Products (SAP) is looking to facilitate public utilities in overcoming challenges through automation and process enablement in order to enhance its business, said SAP Director of Utilities Industries for Asia-Pacific and Japan Philip Vaughan.
Speaking after a conference on business transformation in the utilities sector, Vaughan said that SAP helped companies and industries of all sizes to run better through its enterprise application software.
Almost half of the utilities globally are using SAP software while two-third of the total billing in the whole world is done through SAP, said Vaughan.
He said that SAP is also a leading provider of software to electricity generation and distribution companies globally. Karachi Electric Supply Company is currently utilising our expertise, he added.
The utilities sector in Pakistan is going through a major transformation at the moment, Vaughan said. He said that at a time when the country is suffering the worst energy crisis, the local utilities are making all efforts to minimise costs, improve their business management and develop a more agile supply chain.
We think that Pakistan is an emerging market for us as it lacks the latest technology which developed countries have already adopted to minimise their problems, said SAP Pakistan Country Laison Manager Hassan Latif Jamal.
We are growing as the companies have started to install the software of SAP to minimise their losses which are increasing due to the ongoing power crisis, Jamal said.
