BBC aired allegations that Azerbaijan was promised two gold medals at next year’s Olympics in exchange for a loan.

The International Amateur Boxing Association (Aiba) has formally asked the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) to provide evidence behind its allegations that Azerbaijan was promised two gold medals at next year’s London Olympics in exchange for a $9 million loan. The claims were aired on September 23 on BBC’s Newsnight programme. “The committee chairman has written to the BBC to formally request that it assist the committee by providing all evidence available in support of its allegations,” said an Aiba statement.
