LHC directs Punjab govt to announce LG polls date

LHC has ordered the Punjab government to announce a date for the local government elections within the next seven days.

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered Punjab government to announce a date for the local government (LG) elections within the next seven days.


A petition was filed by Advocate Fawad Chaudhry in the Lahore High Court. It seeks directives from the Punjab government to hold local body polls as soon as possible.


The court has directed the provincial government to look into the matter.


However, it is still waiting for a satisfactory response.

Sultan Ahmed. | 13 years ago | Reply I am still failed to understand the behave of the Punjab government in connection with Local Body election. Local body election is a essential part of its manifesto why it refrain holding such election. Now it has to decide within seven days that is enough time it can be announced with two days because everything is already prepared.
