City police seized 18 Kalashnikov rifles, 344 guns, 119 revolvers, 1620 pistols, 19 carbines, 35 daggers

LAHORE:
City police have seized 18 Kalashnikov rifles, 92 other rifles, 344 guns, 119 revolvers, 1,620 pistols, 19 carbines, 35 daggers and more than 85,200 bullets in an ongoing crackdown against illegal weapons. This was announced by Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmad Raza Tahir on Friday.  Tahir said 1,790 people were arrested in 1784 cases registered since the start of the campaign in June. The CCPO said police would continue the crackdown against illegal weapons ‘to rid the city of crime’. He said police needed citizen’s cooperation in maintaining law and order. He called upon the people to report suspicious activities in their surroundings to the police.   He said police officials should note down that their only agenda was to root out crime and protect the citizen’s life and property.
