Medical Negligence: Victim’s family say doctors refused to treat her

“While we were at the hospital Dr Amir administered an injection to my mother and she began getting worse," says son.

GUJRANWALA:

A large group of people protested against hospital officials following the death of a female patient on Friday.

According to police officials, Aimanabad resident PTCL worker Muhammad Idrees said that he took his mother Imam Bibi to a private hospital after she complained of severe pain in her chest. “When I brought my mother to the hospital, Dr Amir Latif refused to treat her. I called the hospital owner but they forced us out of the hospital after giving her an injection. They refused to register her,” Idrees said. “By the time we took her to another hospital she had died,” he said.

The protesters said that the hospital owner Wajid Gondal had turned them away from the hospital and told to take the patient elsewhere. “While we were at the hospital Dr Amir administered an injection to my mother and she began getting worse. Then they turned us out and said they couldn’t treat her,” Idrees said.

The protesters placed the victim’s body outside the hospital and protested for hours demanding that a criminal case be filed against the doctors.
