K-P terror threat persists: advisor
.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Advisor on Information and Public Relations, Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement Samar Haroon Bilour said on Saturday that the law and order situation in the province has improved, yet the threat of terrorism remains. Better police patrolling and effective coordination between the police and the armed forces have contributed to the betterment, he added.
Bilour disclosed that of nearly 10,000 police personnel, between 5,000 and 6,000 have been recalled from private security duties to police lines. The postings of the remaining personnel are under individual review. Security arrangements for political leaders facing genuine threats will continue to be maintained.
On the health card scheme, the advisor said it remains an important facility for low-income groups. However, issues of corruption, mafias, favouritism towards certain companies, and commissions and kickbacks have surfaced in the system. Ensuring transparency and merit in the project is essential, he stressed.
Regarding illegal constructions, Bilour said action against unauthorised buildings on state land must be taken without discrimination. No one should receive exemption on the basis of political affiliation or influence.
She cautioned that problems accumulated over 13 years cannot realistically be resolved in 13 days or 13 weeks. The government, he said, is nevertheless striving to bring improvement through reforms and practical steps.
