PTI MPA detained under 3-MPO

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker Javed Kausar has been detained for one month under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (3-MPO), according to a notification issued by the deputy commissioner.
The detention was ordered on the recommendation of the Rawalpindi city police officer (CPO) and the District Intelligence Committee.
Kausar was sent to Adiala Jail, while the detention orders were also forwarded to the prison superintendent.
The PTI MPA was arrested by a heavy police contingent outside the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Thursday as he arrived for a routine hearing in the GHQ attack case.
A large number of police personnel had been deployed outside the court ahead of his arrival. As Kausar, who represents Gujar Khan, reached the court gate, police took him into custody and shifted him to Civil Lines police station.
According to police sources, Kausar's bail in cases related to the October 24 and 26 protests had been cancelled about a year ago, leaving him without protective bail. The sources said he was arrested on that basis.
However, no formal arrest had been recorded against him in any case by late Thursday night. PTI leaders continued efforts to secure his release.
