Kris Jenner has admitted she is frightened by daughter Kim Kardashian’s recent esophagitis diagnosis, revealing that the health scare has brought back painful memories of her late husband Robert Kardashian’s death from oesophageal cancer.

During the November 5 episode of The Kardashians, Kris opened up about her concerns as Kim prepared for a follow-up medical appointment to find out whether medication had improved the inflammation and irregularities in her oesophagus.

“I don't want to tell her I'm scared,” Kris said, explaining that she did not want to make her daughter more anxious about the situation.

Her fears are rooted in the loss of Robert, who died from oesophageal cancer in September 2003, just eight weeks after receiving his diagnosis at the age of 59.

Kim, 46, previously revealed that she had been diagnosed with esophagitis after experiencing throat discomfort and feeling unwell. The condition involves inflammation or irritation of the lining of the oesophagus.

During the episode, Kim explained that doctors had identified irregularities that needed further investigation. She was prescribed medication and asked to return for another examination to determine whether the treatment had worked.

The reality star had previously discussed the possibility of surgery if the medication failed to resolve the issue. She said she was prepared to follow whatever treatment her doctors recommended but hoped to avoid an operation.

Kim also revealed that her father had suffered from gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), which her doctor identified as the most common cause of oesophageal cancer.

The medical situation carries additional emotional significance because Kim and her sisters, Kourtney and Khloé Kardashian, helped establish the UCLA Robert G. Kardashian Center for Esophageal Health in 2019 in honour of their father.

Kim has previously spoken about how difficult it was to share her diagnosis with her family, explaining that Robert's death made the situation particularly personal.

A preview of the next episode also shows Kim discussing a hiatal hernia diagnosis and the possibility of having the irregularities in her oesophagus surgically removed.

Robert Kardashian, a prominent attorney, was widely known for being part of O.J. Simpson's defence team during his 1995 murder trial. He died at 59 after being diagnosed with oesophageal cancer.
