American Twitch streamer Lacy has claimed he paid approximately $12,000 after viewers used a restaurant’s QR code, visible during his livestream in Japan, to place large food orders without his knowledge.

In clips circulating online, the streamer can be seen midway through his meal when a waiter approaches him about additional orders. Confused, Lacy insists he has not requested more food or drinks before the server presents the bill.

Realising viewers might have accessed the ordering system, he said, “They might have seen the QR. No more orders.”

The broadcast subsequently went black for a period.

Lacy later explained that the restaurant had presented multiple receipts, with the total reaching around 1.5 million yen or more than $12,000, according to his account.

“I just had to pay over $12,000 because you guys thought it'd be funny,” he said, blaming viewers for exploiting the ordering system and creating unnecessary work for restaurant staff.

Lacy also expressed concern about the amount of food prepared. He said he apologised to the restaurant and agreed to cover the bill, adding that the staff distributed the food to families dining there.

“So that poor restaurant just had to cook 1.5 million yen worth of food. And I just had to pay like almost a $12,000 bill because you guys thought it would be funny to order a bunch of food,” he said.

The streamer later admitted his frustration, saying, “I'm really upset right now.”

The livestream reportedly runs for more than five hours and has attracted over 400,000 views. Lacy, who has more than 3.5 million Twitch followers, initially built his audience through Fortnite content and is also known for his real-life livestreams.
