Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato recreate ‘Princess Protection Program’ poses
Demi Lovato reconnects with Selena Gomez as their Rare Beauty collaboration celebrates their longtime friendship

Demi Lovato has opened up about reconnecting with longtime friend Selena Gomez, reflecting on their childhood friendship, mental health journey and evolving music career as the pair celebrate a new Rare Beauty collaboration.
The former Disney Channel stars have joined forces for the Delena Soft Pinch Blush Bundle, launched on October 28. The collection features two shades of Rare Beauty’s popular liquid blush: Virtue, Lovato’s favourite, and Hope, Gomez’s preferred shade.
In an interview with ELLE, Lovato described the collaboration as a natural continuation of their friendship, which dates back to their childhood. The pair reconnected backstage in April after Gomez attended Lovato’s It’s Not That Deep Tour stop in Orlando.
The reunion also brought a nostalgic element to the campaign, with the singers recreating poses from their 2009 Disney Channel film, Princess Protection Program.
Lovato recalled dreaming of sharing red carpets with Gomez when they were younger. The two even practised posing together before the 2011 Teen Choice Awards, although the moment turned into laughter when their real-life appearance did not match their expectations.
The collaboration has renewed interest in the friendship between the singers, whose shared history includes their early careers in entertainment and their time on Disney Channel.
During the conversation, Lovato also reflected on revisiting their old YouTube vlogs and discussed lessons she has learnt about beauty. She described her personal makeup preference as a less-is-more approach when doing her own makeup.
The singer also touched on her mental health and sobriety journey, her recent dance-pop era and her approach to the future of her music career. Lovato said she was comfortable not knowing exactly what comes next professionally.
The Rare Beauty collaboration marks another public moment for the longtime friends, bringing together their shared history and individual beauty preferences through a limited-focus blush collection.
