Tom Rhys Harries has revealed how an unexpected club sequence in Clayface came together, explaining that the moment was not originally written into the script and was added during filming.

In a clip shared by Metro Entertainment, the actor discussed the scene and recalled suggesting the idea to director James Watkins towards the end of production. The team was nearing the finish line, and Harries said the cast and crew were exhausted after an intense shoot.

“That was not in the script. That was Rift,” Harries explained, adding that the production team extended filming by a day to accommodate the sequence.

The actor said he initially expected Watkins to reject his suggestion when he proposed trying something spontaneous on set. Instead, the director welcomed the idea and encouraged him to demonstrate what he had in mind.

“I think it would be fun if we did this right now,” Harries recalled telling the director. Watkins responded positively, allowing the sequence to move forward.

Harries said he was pleased that the director embraced the idea, describing the finished scene as one of his favourite parts of the film. He also joked that the team had reached a point in production when everyone was so tired that they had started behaving a little unpredictably.

The anecdote offers a glimpse into how creative decisions can evolve during a film shoot, with actors and directors sometimes developing moments beyond what was originally planned.

Clayface is part of DC Studios’ expanding screen universe and centres on the comic book character known for his ability to alter his appearance. Harries stars in the film, directed by Watkins, whose previous work includes The Woman in Black and Speak No Evil.
